In the beginning, medical billing was done on papers. Today, everything has got a new form due to the emerging computerized technology. Computerization reduces a lot of time and money for both patient as well as Doctors. Hence, medical billing and claims process considered to be an efficient process. We can manage a huge number of bills and process voluminous amount of claims in no time. The process of medical billing does not require patient’s interaction. It involves an interaction between the health care providers and the Insurance Company for paying bill. Usually, healthcare providers will have summarized details of all the event of the patient’s visits and a record will be kept for future reference. This will contain the information such as demographic details, details of examination, nature of illness, medication details and diagnosis treatment. The same has to be used to bill for the services they have provided. medical billing can be done by determining the level of service. This is done by analyzing the level of different tests and examinations and this level of service will be converted into a five digit code from the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). The details of the verbal diagnosis has to be coded by using numbers that will be notified ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, ninth edition). After the diagnosis and medical coding, it will transmit as claims and insurance company has to process the claims. It is worth enough to outsource these processes to a medical billing service providers there by making medical billing as a hassle free process. After the medical billing, it is insurance company’s responsibility to process the claims by checking the validity, eligibility after looking at all the qualifications.
